About Our Chapter

The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) is the leading international organization for individuals in the fundraising field. As a trade association, AFP is dedicated to supporting the diverse professional needs of its members.

We offer a range of opportunities to support and engage fundraising professionals, including monthly programs, a regular newsletter, and signature events like Professional Advancement Day and National Philanthropy Day. Our Diversity programs foster inclusion across the sector, while access to national AFP resources keeps members informed on the latest research and trends in philanthropy. We also offer scholarships to attend the AFP national conference and have active committees focused on key issues such as ethics and government relations.

Through active participation in chapter committees, such as National Philanthropy Day, Ethics, and others, we work to strengthen the fundraising profession and promote the spirit of philanthropy. By collaborating, we learn from one another, expand our networks, and make meaningful contributions to the future of our field.

Our mission is to support chapter members by providing access to information, networking opportunities, professional development, insights into current trends in philanthropy, and meaningful opportunities to both learn from and mentor others in the field.

National Philanthropy Day is the chapter’s premier annual event, dedicated to celebrating the spirit of giving and volunteerism. It offers nonprofits a special opportunity to recognize their most valued donors and volunteers. As a chapter, we also present awards to individuals and organizations who have demonstrated outstanding commitment and impact through their philanthropic efforts.

The strength of our profession lies in its diversity. The more voices we include, across backgrounds, cultures, and traditions of giving, the richer our understanding and impact become. To be effective fundraisers in today’s diverse society, we need a wide range of perspectives, ideas, and experiences. We celebrate and welcome that diversity as essential to the success of our work.

The annual Be the Cause Campaign invites chapter members to support the AFP Foundation for Philanthropy, which plays a vital role in advancing our profession. The Foundation funds key initiatives such as diversity and inclusion efforts, scholarships for the AFP International Conference, support for National Philanthropy Day awards, and groundbreaking research on fundraising trends. For many members, contributing to this campaign is a meaningful way to give back to the profession that has supported their growth. Notably, approximately 25% of funds raised through Be the Cause are returned to our chapter to help fund local programs and member benefits.
