Chamberlain Scholarship

Each year, the AFP Foundation offers the Chamberlain Scholarship Program to help outstanding AFP members attend their first AFP International Conference (AFP ICON). Every AFP chapter may select one Chamberlain Scholar, and the AFP Greater Detroit Chapter is excited to name its next recipient, who will attend AFP ICON in San Diego this April. The scholarship honors Ralph E. Chamberlain, CFRE, whose longstanding service and generosity to AFP inspired the program’s renaming in 2000.

Why Apply? Hear From Past Scholars

Our 2023 Chamberlain Scholar, Shenise Foote, who was the Director of Development at Cranbrook Educational Community’s Horizons–Upward Bound at that time, shared the powerful impact the program has had on her professional journey:

“AFP has been the best investment for my career. I am grateful for all that I’ve learned, the connections I’ve made, and the accomplishments I’ve achieved in our IDEA efforts. I am honored to represent AFP GDC at ICON 2023!”

Her experience reflects the transformative opportunities the scholarship provides.

Jennifer Dale, CFRE, CNM, Director of Strategic Partnerships & Growth at Angela Hospice and AFP Greater Detroit’s incoming board president, says:

“Being a Chamberlain Scholar (Class of 2011), I was not only able to experience AFP ICON for the first time, but I was able to do it with a great group of people, some of who I have maintained connections with. It allowed me to be a part of the world’s largest fundraising conference; a conference I have attended nearly every year since. And FYI-I have already registered for the 2026 Conference in San Diego. Being a Chamberlain Scholar is something I am incredibly proud of and that I have on my resume to this day. Just another proof positive that AFP is still one of my most treasured professional affiliations.”
